From the founders' beginnings in Morganton, NC to the big city, Burke Hospitality Group is more than just a staple of the food scene in the Carolinas. It is the impulser and the progenitor of a food movement. Before anyone cared about food being local, sustainable, farm-focused and chef-inspired, Burke Hospitality Group cared and expressed this through Harper’s. This establishment showed that they understood hospitality is much more than just a restaurant, it is a collection of people–farmers, purveyors, providers, chefs, cooks, servers, owners, etc–all of whom are here to create and share on the world’s most sacred experience: eating. Thirty-five years is a long time to be ahead of the game, and thirty-five years is also a long time to keep ideating and creating new memories.

Over thirty years ago, founder and North Carolina native, Tom Sasser, joined friends John Collett and Bill Branstrom to establish the first Harper's Restaurant in Charlotte in 1987. Today, BHG operates four restaurant concepts and a catering concept across the Carolinas.
